Connect to Learn Group Facilitation

Connect to Learn is an after-hours library membership add on, making Te Huinga Wai - The Knowledge and Learning Hub accessible outside of regular operational hours via a secure access system. It allows users to utilise library resources such as meeting rooms independently outside of staffed hours, including evenings and weekends.

This membership add on can be used to allow Library members to facilitate groups. Depending on the type of group there may be a charge to use the meeting room space.

As the funding to allow this project to run is based around upskilling our local workforce to enhance employment prospects, groups that have a study, learning or employment focus do not require a charge. Examples of this include: study groups, remote learning sessions and training sessions.

For more information on booking room fees visit: Meeting Rooms

Facilitators ensure that group activities or events held in the after-hours space are productive, inclusive, and respectful of library policies. They guide discussions, manage group dynamics, and address any issues that arise, ensuring the space is used appropriately. They are responsible for those in the group without Connect to Learn access, including letting them into the building and ensuring they follow relevent policies. They are responsible for ensuring group participants are only in the facility while the facilitator with Connect to Learn access is present.

The space is open to study groups, book clubs, community workshops, and other educational or cultural gatherings. Businesses may also use this space for meetings and trainings. Group activities must align with Central Hawke's Bay District Libraries policies.

The facilitator of the group must be inducted to Connect to Learn access which involves a brief 15 minute walk through of the space covering health and safety and Connect to Learn terms and conditions.

They can then register through the library’s online booking system or by contacting library staff during operational hours. Reservations require providing details about the event, the number of attendees, and agreeing to the library’s terms of use.
