Our big summer of fun has begun!
Our primary and intermediate summer reading programmes 'The Great Reading Carnival' and 'iRead' run for 7 weeks during the summer holidays, from December 2nd to January 18th.
Pop in to one of the libraries to sign up and join the fun!
Read on for details about each of the programmes, and check out all the activities we've got planned!
'The Great Reading Carnival' is our summer reading programme for pre-school and primary school children.
Kids come in to the library to tell a librarian about a book they've read and need to report-in a minimum of four times to successfully complete the programme. Kids are rewarded for their efforts with an incentive each time they report-in. We also run a full calendar of fun activities across the summer to keep kids engaged & entertained!
Our iRead programme is for intermediate kids, from year 6 to year 8. It runs similarly to the Great Reading Carnival - but intermediate kids need to also write or draw something about a book they've read. iRead kids also have the option to report in online.
When kids read and review 3 books, they get to choose a prize book to keep. Kids can earn up to 4 books over the programme.
Finished at least 3 reviews? Kids get an invite to the iRead Big Day Out - a free day trip packed full of activities, with lunch included.
Ask one of our librarians about the iRead programme and how to sign up!
